Jack Parnell has been a security industry professional for over 30 years. He has an extensive background working on complicated emergencies globally in high-risk, conflict and post-conflict environments.
His experience includes service with the British Military, The United Nations and The British Government. In the private sector Jack has led teams with Ultra-High Net Worth families, celebrities and International News/Media Teams.
Having undertaken numerous tours with the Royal Marine Commandos, Jack joined the United Nations Department of Peace keeping Operations (DPKO) as a De-mining, UXO & ERW technical specialist. He undertook this vital humanitarian role in the Former Yugoslavia, Somalia, Rwanda, Angola, Sierra Leone and Afghanistan.
Subsequently Jack was appointed to the UN’s Department of Safety & Security (UNDSS), as a Field Security Coordination Officer focusing on physical & close personal protection.
After the attack against the UN’s Mission HQ in Baghdad, Jack was deployed to Iraq as the Chief of Security Operations where he was the lead in the roll-out of the UN’s first Protective Security Detail project. After 2 years in Iraq, Jack was then appointed as the Regional Security Advisor for the Asia-Pacific region, based in Bangkok where he was responsible for security compliance throughout the region.
In 2007 Jack was seconded from UNDSS to Scotland Yard’s Royalty & Specialist Protection Command (RaSP), where he was the Security Liaison Coordinator for the Quartet’s Middle East Envoy. In 2016 he returned to the UN as part of the Emergency Surge Roster & Stabilisation Team, deploying on missions to: Iraq, Syria, Gaza, Kenya, DRC, Uganda, Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso.
In 2022 Jack was deployed for 5 months to Ukraine as the Senior Security Specialist, in relation to the invasion by the Russian Federation.
During his career, Jack has received numerous commendations, and has successfully completed training in Hostage Negotiation and Hostage Incident Management with: The United Nations H.I.M Team, Scotland Yard’s Hostage & Crisis Unit, and the FBI’s Crisis Negotiation Unit.
Jack is a qualified trainer in the Adult Learning Sector where he has delivered bespoke training for security operators, operational commanders and strategic leaders in; Stakeholder engagement in security risk management & effective decision making, Hostage Incident Management, Crisis & Risk Management, Close Protection, Trauma-Med First Aid, Mine Risk Education including; Unexploded Ordnance and Explosive Remnants of War.
Jack holds an MSc in Security Sector Management from the UK Defence Academy Shrivenham – Cranfield University, and Undergraduate Certificates in Humanitarian Policy & Conflict Research from Harvard University as well as certificates from the UK Government’s Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure – CPNI.
